Geboren 1791 in Newington Butts und verstorben 1867 in Hampton Court, Middlesex, forschte Faraday zu Elektromagnetismus und zur Elektrochemie. Zu seinen wichtigsten Entdeckungen geh\u00f6ren die Prinzipien der elektromagnetischen Induktion, des Diamagnetismus und der Elektrolyse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Faraday wuchs in bescheidenen Verh\u00e4ltnissen auf und machte eine Buchbinder-Lehre, begeisterte sich aber immer f\u00fcr die Naturforschung. Er fand eine Anstellung als Laborassistent von Humphry Davy an der Royal Institution, die zu seiner wichtigsten Wirkungsst\u00e4tte wurde. Im Labor der Royal Institution f\u00fchrte er seine bahnbrechenden elektromagnetischen Experimente durch, und in ihrem H\u00f6rsaal trug er mit seinen Weihnachtsvorlesungen zur Verbreitung neuer wissenschaftlicher Erkenntnisse bei.
