Les indices de protection peuvent \u00e9galement manquer si les fabricants ont utilis\u00e9 d&rsquo;autres certifications ou normes de classement. Il est donc utile de v\u00e9rifier les diff\u00e9rents indices, tels que ceux fournis par la National Electrical Manufacturer Association (NEMA), qui peuvent indiquer si un produit est r\u00e9sistant \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau ou \u00e0 la poussi\u00e8re.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"etancheite\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Etanch\u00e9it\u00e9<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><br>En raison d&rsquo;un manque de normalisation, des termes comme \u00ab\u00a0\u00e9tanche\u00a0\u00bb sont probl\u00e9matiques. Une fausse id\u00e9e concernant les r\u00e9sistances \u00e0 l&rsquo;eau est que plus l&rsquo;indice de protection augmente, plus la r\u00e9sistance de l&rsquo;appareil augmente aussi. Les codes IPX7, IPX8 et IPX9 font r\u00e9f\u00e9rence aux propri\u00e9t\u00e9s d&rsquo;immersion mais peuvent ne pas r\u00e9pondre aux crit\u00e8res de r\u00e9sistance aux jets d&rsquo;eau sous pression, contrairement aux indices inf\u00e9rieurs tels que IPX5 et IPX6. Il faut aussi consid\u00e9rer le fait que les indices de protection sont attribu\u00e9s et test\u00e9s sur des appareils en eau douce, ce qui signifie que la protection ne peut \u00eatre garantie dans d&rsquo;autres liquides tels que l&rsquo;eau sal\u00e9e, les boissons et l&rsquo;eau contenant des produits chimiques (ex. dans une piscine.)
