Il s&rsquo;agit de la derni\u00e8re initiative en date de l&rsquo;industrie des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques visant \u00e0 susciter l&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eat du public pour les investissements dans les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques (VE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si vous n&rsquo;en avez pas entendu parler, ne vous inqui\u00e9tez pas, la plupart des constructeurs de v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques vont bient\u00f4t en parler avec enthousiasme, en particulier Elon Musk de Tesla. Tesla travaille actuellement sur un projet de batterie \u00ab\u00a0un million de miles\u00a0\u00bb au sein de sa division de recherche et d\u00e9veloppement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sur le march\u00e9 actuel, les moteurs \u00e0 combustion interne (MCI) peuvent g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement atteindre une dur\u00e9e de vie d&rsquo;environ 200 000 miles, moyennant un entretien r\u00e9gulier. On consid\u00e8re qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;agit d&rsquo;une bonne performance pour tout v\u00e9hicule, qu&rsquo;il soit \u00e0 moteur \u00e0 combustion interne ou \u00e9lectrique. En mai 2020, General Motors (GM) a publi\u00e9 une d\u00e9claration affirmant qu&rsquo;ils sont \u00ab\u00a0presque arriv\u00e9s\u00a0\u00bb \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper une batterie. En outre, GM travaille sur la prochaine g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de technologies de batteries, telles que les \u00e9lectrodes sans cobalt, les \u00e9lectrolytes solides et la charge ultra-rapide.<br><br>GM a d\u00e9voil\u00e9 son syst\u00e8me de batterie avanc\u00e9 Ultium en mars 2020 pour rivaliser avec Tesla. La soci\u00e9t\u00e9 a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 que son entreprise de production de batteries avec LG Chem, d&rsquo;une valeur de 2,3 milliards de dollars, s&rsquo;appellerait Ultium Cells LLC. Son seul objectif est de trouver des moyens de r\u00e9duire le co\u00fbt des batteries des VE en investissant dans des mines, en couvrant les prix des m\u00e9taux et en s&rsquo;associant avec des raffineurs de m\u00e9taux.<br><br>L&rsquo;un des plus grands acteurs du secteur des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques est Tesla, et il n&rsquo;est pas surprenant que Tesla soit bient\u00f4t en mesure d&rsquo;alimenter ses v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques pendant plus d&rsquo;un million de kilom\u00e8tres au cours de leur dur\u00e9e de vie. C&rsquo;est le double du kilom\u00e9trage auquel peuvent pr\u00e9tendre les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques Tesla actuels. Ce projet est men\u00e9 par Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), qui fabrique des batteries pour Tesla et Volkswagen AG.<br><br>CATL poursuit maintenant ses efforts pour produire une batterie qui peut durer 16 ans ou 2 million de kilom\u00e8tres. L&rsquo;id\u00e9e sous-jacente est non seulement de r\u00e9duire l&rsquo;\u00e9limination des d\u00e9chets de batteries lorsqu&rsquo;elles atteignent leur fin de vie, mais aussi de mettre en \u0153uvre un programme de recyclage. Lorsque vous achetez un v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique aujourd&rsquo;hui, il est accompagn\u00e9 d&rsquo;une garantie de 8 \u00e0 10 ans ou de 150 \u00e0 300 000 kilom\u00e8tres. Certains aspects de la garantie peuvent diff\u00e9rer d&rsquo;un fabricant \u00e0 l&rsquo;autre. N\u00e9anmoins, certains garantissent qu&rsquo;une batterie conservera au moins 70 % de sa capacit\u00e9 initiale pendant la p\u00e9riode de garantie.<br><br>En r\u00e9alit\u00e9, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 constat\u00e9 que les batteries des VE ont une dur\u00e9e de vie beaucoup plus longue et se d\u00e9gradent beaucoup moins. Les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques existent depuis plus de dix ans. Les experts commencent donc \u00e0 examiner les donn\u00e9es de mani\u00e8re beaucoup plus d\u00e9taill\u00e9e.<br><br>Les donn\u00e9es analys\u00e9es par les experts ont montr\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il est peu probable qu&rsquo;un VE soit retir\u00e9 de la circulation en raison d&rsquo;une batterie totalement d\u00e9grad\u00e9e. C&rsquo;est parfois le cas pour les VE utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 des fins professionnelles comme les livraisons et les taxis ; ce n&rsquo;est certainement pas le cas pour les VE grand public.<br><br>Les pr\u00e9occupations actuelles concernant les batteries sont les suivantes : quelle sera la dur\u00e9e de vie de la batterie ? Comment la capacit\u00e9 de charge et l&rsquo;autonomie diminuent-elles avec le temps ? Ce sont les questions que tout acheteur se posera au moment d&rsquo;investir dans un v\u00e9hicule \u00e9lectrique. Une batterie capable de parcourir plus d&rsquo;un million de kilom\u00e8tres et qui survivra tr\u00e8s probablement \u00e0 la voiture elle-m\u00eame r\u00e9pondra sans aucun doute \u00e0 ces questions. M\u00eame avec une p\u00e9riode de garantie de 500 000 kilom\u00e8tres, elle contribuera grandement \u00e0 soulager ceux qui s&rsquo;inqui\u00e8tent du remplacement co\u00fbteux de la batterie \u00e0 l&rsquo;avenir. Ce serait davantage le cas des flottes de v\u00e9hicules pour les livraisons ou les entreprises de taxis.<br><br>Les fabricants de VE utilisent actuellement le nickel-cobalt-aluminium (NCA) ou le nickel-mangan\u00e8se-cobalt (NMC) sur les v\u00e9hicules particuliers en raison de leur densit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9nergie plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e, qui est un facteur essentiel lorsqu&rsquo;on consid\u00e8re la distance qu&rsquo;un VE peut parcourir sur une seule charge.<br><br>Le probl\u00e8me potentiel des batteries au cobalt est le co\u00fbt \u00e9lev\u00e9 du m\u00e9tal et l&rsquo;\u00e9norme co\u00fbt environnemental de son extraction. On pr\u00e9voit que le co\u00fbt du m\u00e9tal et la demande augmenteront au cours des dix prochaines ann\u00e9es. Pour rem\u00e9dier \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me, plusieurs syst\u00e8mes de recyclage ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mis en place pour recycler les batteries, mais si elles sont cens\u00e9es durer un demi-million ou un million de kilom\u00e8tres, cela pourrait ne pas se produire avant 10 \u00e0 20 ans. Il est d\u00e9sormais demand\u00e9 que les batteries soient recycl\u00e9es bien plus t\u00f4t que leur dur\u00e9e de vie pr\u00e9vue.<br><br>Une autre solution consiste \u00e0 rechercher d&rsquo;autres mat\u00e9riaux et \u00e0 faire progresser la recherche sur la technologie des batteries, ce que fait actuellement CATL. CATL travaille sur une batterie au lithium fer phosphate (LFP), qui permettra de r\u00e9duire les co\u00fbts de production et d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer la densit\u00e9 et la s\u00e9curit\u00e9 de la batterie.
