Cette nouvelle technologie inspirante pourrait faciliter les missions et l&rsquo;exploration, et peut-\u00eatre m\u00eame nous permettre un jour de vivre sur d&rsquo;autres plan\u00e8tes.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Les robots spatiaux tels que Robby dans <em>Plan\u00e8te interdite<\/em> ou R2-D2 et C3PO dans <em>Star Wars<\/em> font partie de la science-fiction depuis des d\u00e9cennies. Mais aujourd&rsquo;hui, ils ne sont plus cantonn\u00e9s au grand \u00e9cran, ils sont en passe de devenir une r\u00e9alit\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><em>\u00ab Je pense que nous irons un jour sur Mars et que nous l&rsquo;explorerons avec des humains, mais je pense qu&rsquo;il est vraiment sage de faire toute l&rsquo;exploration robotique \u00e0 l&rsquo;avance et d&rsquo;en apprendre le plus possible. Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des robots autonomes de pointe, les possibilit\u00e9s de s&rsquo;aventurer dans les r\u00e9gions inexplor\u00e9es de notre syst\u00e8me solaire sont illimit\u00e9es.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Si V\u00e9nus et Saturne ne sont peut-\u00eatre pas les endroits les plus appropri\u00e9s pour l&rsquo;homme, l&rsquo;id\u00e9e d&rsquo;\u00e9migrer de la Terre est toujours d&rsquo;actualit\u00e9. Pour savoir si l&rsquo;homme pourra un jour terraformer la plan\u00e8te, celle-ci doit \u00eatre v\u00e9rifi\u00e9e et pr\u00e9par\u00e9e avant que l&rsquo;homme ne puisse la peupler. C&rsquo;est l\u00e0 que les sondes spatiales prennent toute leur importance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Une sonde spatiale est un appareil non habit\u00e9 con\u00e7u pour explorer l&rsquo;espace et acqu\u00e9rir des donn\u00e9es scientifiques pr\u00e9cieuses. \u00c9quip\u00e9 d&rsquo;un ensemble d&rsquo;instruments et d&rsquo;outils scientifiques, elle est lanc\u00e9e depuis la Terre pour \u00e9tudier l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re et la composition des plan\u00e8tes, des lunes et d&rsquo;autres corps c\u00e9lestes. Les sondes peuvent op\u00e9rer dans l&rsquo;espace lointain, \u00eatre en orbite autour de plan\u00e8tes ou de lunes, voire se poser \u00e0 leur surface. Certaines sondes effectuent des missions aller simple, tandis que d&rsquo;autres retournent sur Terre, ramenant des \u00e9chantillons et des donn\u00e9es. En r\u00e8gle g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, ces sondes transmettent leurs observations \u00e0 la Terre par le biais de communications radio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Depuis novembre 2018, un robot nomm\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/mars.nasa.gov\/insight\/mission\/overview\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">InSight<\/a> explore Mars, d\u00e9tectant plus de 1300 tremblements de terre, dont certains caus\u00e9s par des mouvements de roches en fusion. En outre, elle a d\u00e9tect\u00e9 des tremblements provoqu\u00e9s par l&rsquo;impact de m\u00e9t\u00e9orites et a r\u00e9v\u00e9l\u00e9 la pr\u00e9sence de glace d&rsquo;eau plus pr\u00e8s de l&rsquo;\u00e9quateur. Pendant la deuxi\u00e8me phase de la mission, InSight a \u00e9tudi\u00e9 la structure interne de la plan\u00e8te, notamment l&rsquo;\u00e9paisseur de la cro\u00fbte, du manteau et du noyau. Elle a fourni des donn\u00e9es m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques d\u00e9taill\u00e9es recueillies pendant une ann\u00e9e martienne compl\u00e8te (687 jours), ce qui nous permet de mieux comprendre l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re de la plan\u00e8te. Et comme l&rsquo;a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 Ajay B. Le robot a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 par Airbus pour le compte du Centre a\u00e9rospatial allemand et utilise une version de l&rsquo;intelligence artificielle Watson d&rsquo;IBM. Outre un visage dot\u00e9 d&rsquo;un \u00e9cran vid\u00e9o, CIMON dispose d&rsquo;une cam\u00e9ra qui lui permet de voir son environnement, ainsi que d&rsquo;une voix num\u00e9rique qui lui permet de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/mach\/science\/talking-robotic-head-will-join-astronauts-iss-ncna854821\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">r\u00e9pondre aux questions <\/a>et d&rsquo;interagir avec les astronautes pendant qu&rsquo;ils effectuent des t\u00e2ches.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La premi\u00e8re <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/image-feature\/ames\/robot-colleagues-meet-aboard-the-international-space-station\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">photo de CIMON dans l&rsquo;espace<\/a> a \u00e9t\u00e9 prise apr\u00e8s deux ans de travail \u00e0 bord de la Station spatiale internationale. CIMON est le premier assistant \u00e0 intelligence artificielle \u00e0 bord du laboratoire orbital. L&rsquo;id\u00e9e sous-jacente est de disposer d&rsquo;une base de donn\u00e9es, d&rsquo;un ordinateur et d&rsquo;un appareil photo mains libres pour soutenir la recherche.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le d\u00e9veloppement des assistants spatiaux ne s&rsquo;arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0. Airbus a d\u00e9j\u00e0 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une version actualis\u00e9e de CIMON, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.airbus.com\/en\/newsroom\/press-releases\/2020-04-cimon-2-makes-its-successful-debut-on-the-iss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CIMON-2<\/a>, qui a fait ses d\u00e9buts avec succ\u00e8s dans la station spatiale internationale en 2020. Par ailleurs, la NASA travaille \u00e9galement \u00e0 la mise au point d&rsquo;un assistant de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/nasa-is-creating-a-chatgpt-like-assistant-for-astronauts-081903604.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">type ChatGPT pour les astronautes<\/a>. L&rsquo;objectif des initiateurs est de parvenir \u00e0 des \u00ab interactions conversationnelles \u00bb avec les v\u00e9hicules spatiaux. Pour soutenir cette tentative, des scientifiques et des \u00e9tudiants ont d\u00e9ploy\u00e9 des chiens robots explorateurs avanc\u00e9s qui pourraient se trouver sur la lune \u00e0 l&rsquo;avenir. Capables de grimper des pentes abruptes, de sauter, de creuser et d&rsquo;explorer des terrains \u00e9lev\u00e9s, ils pourraient un jour aider l&rsquo;homme \u00e0 explorer la lune et d&rsquo;autres plan\u00e8tes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un robot explorateur en forme de chien appel\u00e9 GLIMPSE, con\u00e7u par l&rsquo;ETH Zurich et l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 de Zurich, a d\u00e9j\u00e0 <a href=\"https:\/\/ethz.ch\/en\/news-and-events\/eth-news\/news\/2022\/05\/robot-dog-on-the-way-to-the-moon.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">pass\u00e9 ses premiers tests en 2022<\/a>, en m\u00eame temps que d&rsquo;autres robots explorateurs. Le r\u00f4le de GLIMPSE est d&rsquo;en savoir plus sur la r\u00e9gion polaire sud de la lune.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un autre concept de chien robot est le LEAP (Legged Exploration of the Aristarchus Plateau) con\u00e7u pour fonctionner \u00e0 la surface de <a href=\"https:\/\/www.space.com\/robot-dogs-future-moon-explorers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">l&rsquo;atterrisseur europ\u00e9en EL3<\/a> (European Large Logistics Lander) de l&rsquo;ESA. Il peut sembler improbable d&rsquo;avoir une m\u00e9canique spatiale, mais c&rsquo;est pourtant le cas. Il ne s&rsquo;agit peut-\u00eatre pas de v\u00e9ritables m\u00e9caniciens, mais de mat\u00e9riel de r\u00e9paration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Selon <a href=\"https:\/\/orbitaltoday.com\/2022\/08\/05\/satellilte-repair-in-space-comes-of-age\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Orbital Today<\/a>, il y avait plus de 5 000 satellites en orbite \u00e0 la mi-2022. La dur\u00e9e de vie moyenne des satellites est de 5 \u00e0 15 ans. Ainsi, certains d&rsquo;entre eux peuvent tomber en panne tandis que d&rsquo;autres n\u00e9cessitent un entretien.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jusqu&rsquo;au milieu des ann\u00e9es 80, les satellites cass\u00e9s ne pouvaient pas \u00eatre r\u00e9par\u00e9s, mais tout a chang\u00e9 avec <a href=\"https:\/\/solarscience.msfc.nasa.gov\/SMM.shtml#:~:text=The%20Solar%20Maximum%20Mission%20(SMM,1984%20Space%20Shuttle%20Challenger%20mission.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">la mission Solar Maximum<\/a> de la NASA, au cours de laquelle un satellite a \u00e9t\u00e9 tra\u00een\u00e9 dans la soute de la navette et r\u00e9par\u00e9 par la navette Challenger en 1984. Depuis, il y a eu quelques autres missions de sauvetage et de r\u00e9paration de satellites en orbite. Par exemple, en 2020, la mission MEV-1 visait \u00e0 prolonger la dur\u00e9e de vie d&rsquo;un satellite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.intelsat.com\/2021\/06\/21\/in-orbit-mission-success-extending-the-life-of-intelsat-10-02\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">(Intelsat 901 ou IS-901)<\/a> en orbite g\u00e9ostationnaire en lui fournissant des capacit\u00e9s d&rsquo;entretien et de propulsion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>D&rsquo;autres missions sont pr\u00e9vues pour ravitailler et r\u00e9parer les satellites en orbite. Par exemple, la mission <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/richblake1\/2021\/08\/18\/another-space-race--pioneering-satellite-repair-robots\/?sh=2c4bcc9579ad\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OSAM-1<\/a> (On-orbit Servicing Assembly, Manufacturing-1) devrait \u00eatre lanc\u00e9e en 2024 ; elle aura pour but d&rsquo;inspecter, de remettre \u00e0 neuf et de ravitailler en carburant, pour la premi\u00e8re fois dans l&rsquo;espace, un satellite vieillissant du gouvernement am\u00e9ricain.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"lassistant-astronaute\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>L&rsquo;assistant astronaute<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img  decoding=\"async\"  src=\"data:image\/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAAANSUhEUgAAAAEAAAABAQMAAAAl21bKAAAAA1BMVEUAAP+KeNJXAAAAAXRSTlMAQObYZgAAAAlwSFlzAAAOxAAADsQBlSsOGwAAAApJREFUCNdjYAAAAAIAAeIhvDMAAAAASUVORK5CYII=\"  alt=\"\"  class=\" pk-lazyload\"  data-pk-sizes=\"auto\"  data-pk-src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/tsQutc66N5_NTr3igBO4edoRZdX2-9OmlD_ogIwcTUg0jJzDZ0tWVhT4fDd8EoxL75gOTt1xKKF_trqmSTCvxwlOHrNLq2ZkRVD8anebS4F8FGL4q8XuD98VrYjsI0MPmAP0PvkeLop2UM-ShGN1oy8\" ><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Voici <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/feature\/r5\">R5<\/a>, alias Valkyrie, un robot humano\u00efde de 1,8 m de haut et de 136 kg. Con\u00e7u pour aider les astronautes \u00e0 effectuer un large \u00e9ventail de t\u00e2ches dans l&rsquo;espace, il est enti\u00e8rement aliment\u00e9 par une batterie et \u00e9quip\u00e9 de multiples actionneurs permettant 44 degr\u00e9s de libert\u00e9, de mains pr\u00e9hensibles pour effectuer des t\u00e2ches, ainsi que de capteurs et de cam\u00e9ras dans sa t\u00eate et sa poitrine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Construite \u00e0 l&rsquo;origine par le Johnson Space Centre (JSC) pour le DARPA Robotics Challenge 2013, il a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 int\u00e9gr\u00e9 au Space Robotics Challenge de la Nasa. Depuis lors, la Northeastern University, le Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) aux \u00c9tats-Unis et l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00c9dimbourg en \u00c9cosse ont tous travaill\u00e9 sur le logiciel n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 la pr\u00e9paration de la mission spatiale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Valkyrie se lance dans une <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/feature\/nasa-humanoid-robot-to-be-tested-in-australia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">nouvelle mission<\/a> passionnante loin de chez lui (mais toujours sur Terre), en Australie.
