Dette er den minst farlige b\u00f8lgelengden og den b\u00f8lgelengden som er sterkest fra solen.<br>\u2022 UVB = 280-315 nm. Dette er sterkere b\u00f8lgelengder som syntetiserer vitamin D i kroppen n\u00e5r den kommer i kontakt med huden og er grunnen til at vi brenner oss hvis vi ikke bruker solkrem.<br>\u2022 UVC = 200-280 nm. DNA og RNA holder genetisk informasjon, noe som gj\u00f8r at disse sprer seg. I UV-spekteret har UVC den korteste b\u00f8lgelengden og er best egnet mot bakterier og virus. Resultater fra evalueringstestene Stanley Electric utf\u00f8rte sammen med Yamaguchi University (med Associate Professor Horishi Shimoda, Professor Daisuke Hayasaka, Veterinary Microbiology Department, Joint Veterinary Faculty), er det bekreftet at UV-desinfisering er en sv\u00e6rt effektiv desinfeksjonsmetode. Generelt bestemmes effekten av den kumulative lysmengden (eller UV-dosen) som p\u00e5f\u00f8res, som beregnes ved \u00e5 kjenne lysstyrken (intensiteten) og varigheten som UV-lyset lyser p\u00e5 objektet (intensitetstiden). Jo lengre intensitetstiden er, desto mer \u00f8ker den kumulative lysmengden, noe som resulterer i st\u00f8rre effekt.
