UV-spektrumet p\u00e5 100-400nm \u00e4r ej synligt f\u00f6r det m\u00e4nskliga \u00f6gat. Av det ljus som n\u00e5r jordens yta \u00e4r endast 5-6% ultraviolett. UV-spektrumet best\u00e5r av fyra distinkta kategorier, var och en med sina egna v\u00e5gl\u00e4ngdsegenskaper och till\u00e4mpningar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>UVA<\/strong> = 315-400nm. UVC \u00e4r d\u00e4rf\u00f6r idealiskt f\u00f6r desinfektion eftersom det kan orsaka molekyl\u00e4r skada p\u00e5 celler. UVB har ocks\u00e5 denna f\u00f6rm\u00e5ga men i mycket mindre utstr\u00e4ckning. UVB-str\u00e5lning fr\u00e5n naturligt solljus \u00e4r den fr\u00e4msta skadliga komponenten. Dessa str\u00e5lar kan skada m\u00e4nskliga celler, orsaka solbr\u00e4nna och till och med hudcancer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Till skillnad fr\u00e5n UVC kan UVB endast p\u00e5verka DNA-celler och kan inte effektivt d\u00f6da mikroorganismer.\r\nMikroorganismer \u00e4r betydligt mindre \u00e4n m\u00e4nskliga celler, s\u00e5 f\u00f6r att bryta igenom deras cellstrukturer beh\u00f6vs kortare UVC-v\u00e5gl\u00e4ngder. I en mikroorganism inneh\u00e5ller k\u00e4rncellen tymin, ett kemiskt element i DNA\/RNA. DNA\/RNA \u00e4r kemiskt f\u00f6r\u00e4ndrat, vilket inneb\u00e4r att organismen inte l\u00e4ngre kan replikera.\r\n\r\n5. Of\u00f6rm\u00f6gen att metabolisera och replikera, kan organismen inte orsaka eller sprida sjukdomar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det b\u00f6r noteras att UVC-ljus inte diskriminerar n\u00e4r det g\u00e4ller att f\u00f6rst\u00f6ra genetiskt material. Denna v\u00e5gl\u00e4ngd kan skada hud- och \u00f6gonceller hos m\u00e4nniskor och djur. L\u00e5ngvarig exponering f\u00f6r UVC-str\u00e5lning kan orsaka solbr\u00e4nna, hudskador och konjunktivit och till och med cancer.
