Det uppst\u00e5r n\u00e4r utbytet av elektroner skapar ett stort elektrostatiskt f\u00e4lt och det \u00e4r mycket problematiskt inom h\u00f6gteknologisk tillverkning.<br><br>Statisk elektricitet och elektrostatisk induktion \u00e4r de vanligaste orsakerna till ESD. Enheter som inte fungerar som de ska \u00e4r ineffektiva och kan st\u00f6ra kretsens normala drift. En optimal ESD-enhet m\u00e5ste:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Reagera snabbt f\u00f6r att hindra farliga str\u00f6m- och sp\u00e4nningstoppar under elektrostatiska urladdningar.<\/li><li>F\u00f6rbli op\u00e5verkad av upprepade ESD-toppar.<\/li><li>Inte st\u00f6ra funktionen hos det system den skyddar.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>ESD-skyddsenheter skyddar utrustning och produkter som \u00e4r k\u00e4nsliga f\u00f6r elektrostatiska urladdningar under f\u00f6rvaring och f\u00f6rflyttning och hindrar statisk elektricitet fr\u00e5n att byggas upp, samt f\u00f6rorening av damm eller fukt. En person kan ackumulera statisk elektricitet av att g\u00e5 eller r\u00f6ra p\u00e5 sig, den laddas sedan ur genom den integrerade kretsen.<\/li><li>Normal anv\u00e4ndning av enheten \u2013 modell av laddad enhet &#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;Testet med laddad enhet simulerar hur en enhet agerar n\u00e4r sj\u00e4lva enheten har en elektrostatisk laddning och kommer i kontakt med en metallyta. Till exempel \u00e4r externa ESD-skyddsenheter perfekta f\u00f6r gr\u00e4nssnitt som \u00e4r s\u00e4rskilt mottagliga f\u00f6r ESD-skador men de \u00e4r kanske inte l\u00e4mpliga f\u00f6r mycket avancerade system p\u00e5 ett chip (SoC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Storleken p\u00e5 arbetsplatsen och hur arbetet som ska utf\u00f6ras ser ut kommer ocks\u00e5 att p\u00e5verka ESD-jordningskraven p\u00e5 ett f\u00f6retag. Normalt s\u00e4tt kommer mindre arbetsplatser att f\u00f6lja grundl\u00e4ggande krav medan st\u00f6rre anl\u00e4ggningar m\u00e5ste f\u00f6lja striktare jordningskrav.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I en st\u00f6rre arbetsmilj\u00f6 kommer skapandet av ett ESD-skyddat omr\u00e5de (EPA=ESD protected area) att kr\u00e4vas d\u00e4r alla ytor, f\u00f6rem\u00e5l, personer och ESD-enheter \u00e4r p\u00e5 samma elektriska potential.
