Today’s engineers are preparing for the power designs of tomorrow. With trends across markets such as data centres and vehicle electrification driving greater demand for robust power solutions, in many cases, we are seeing power delivered to the printed circuit board (PCB) in new and innovative ways. These trends are shaping the way that power is connected, and manufacturers like Molex are developing new solutions that will be suitable for the next generation of electronic systems and applications. Read on to learn more about some of the Molex power solutions that are trending at Distrelec.

Fit Family Products

A wide range of original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) require power connectors that also support design flexibility. To meet these needs, Fit Family Connectors offers coloured polarised housings with isolated terminals, TPAs, positive locks and tangless terminals.

Micro-Fit Connectors:

Delivering power in a compact package for space-constrained applications, Molex Micro-Fit Connectors offer up to 8.5A with a 3.00mm pitch and are available in multiple circuit sizes and cable lengths for wire-to-wire and wire-to-board configurations.

Key Features:

  • Fully isolated terminals provide protection against the potential damage of terminals during handling and mating and minimise shorting risks due to debris.
  • Provides design flexibility and multiple options to meet many application needs with SMT, press-fit or surface-mount compatible versions.
  • Locking tang on terminal secures terminals in housings.
  • Achieves reliable connections through positive latching.
  • Can withstand operating temperatures up to 125°C.

Mini-Fit Connectors:

A wide range of OEMs require high-current, high-density power connectors that also support design flexibility. To meet these needs, Mini-Fit Jr, Mini-Fit Plus, Mini-Fit Blind-Mate Interface (BMI) and Mini-Fit TPA2 Connectors offer polarised housings with isolated terminals, positive locks, and low-engagement forces. Take a look at the Mini-Fit Products Comparison Chart.

Key Features:

  • Mini-Fit:
  • The self-aligning interface enables operators to mate connectors in hard to reach areas.
  • Polarised mating geometry ensures that the header and receptacle cannot be mismated.
  • Positive locking housings prevent accidental unmating with an easy to operate thumb latch that assures connectors are fully mated.
  • All versions of Mini-Fit Jr. and Mini-Fit Plus Connectors are compatible with each other, including with Mini-Fit TPA2 and Mini-Fit BMI Components, bringing flexibility to the toughest design dilemmas.
  • Mini-Fit BMI Connectors allow misalignment and provide up to 2.54mm of float between mating surfaces for easy blind-mate connections.

FCT D-Sub Connectors:

FCT D-Sub Connectors are a reliable solution found in a broad range of applications and various industries. These connectors are time-tested and commonly used for signal transmission, communications, power distribution, control panels and test equipment.

FCT D-Sub products are readily available in a wide variety of materials and plating combinations. Specialty D-Sub connectors include waterproof IP67, filtered, non-magnetic, and non-outgassing. Download the FCT D-Sub Product Guide.

Key Features:

  • Plastic and metal backshells offer cable strain relief, the robust coupling of connectors and organised cable routing in confined spaces.
  • Machined contacts offer superior current-carrying capacity and a variety of plating options. These contacts also provide high mating cycles and increased strength over stamped contacts.
  • Many different combinations of materials and gold plating thicknesses.
  • Waterproof IP67 available.
  • D-sub connector accessories and off-the-shelf cable assemblies are available.
