Data acquisition system, also known as DAQ, is a general measurement system that can measure an electrical or physical occurrence, such as voltage, current, temperature, pressure, or sound. Data acquisition systems act as the system’s focal point, connecting a wide range of items such as hardware, computer or sensors that show temperature.
Keysight has produced data acquisition systems and switching solutions for more than 25 years, offering high-quality switching and measurements in small, cost-effective systems. Discover the benefits and improvements of Keysight DAQ systems and be confident in your measurement results.
Move to next-generation
Today the focus will be on the DAQ970A/DAQ973A designs that are newer and improved versions of Keysight 34970A and 34972A.
Keysight DAQ970A/DAQ973A is the next generation data acquisition system (DAQ) for customers of 34970A and 34972A. The new design offers improved performance and versatility while remaining compatible with the previous models.
Benefits of DAQ970A and DAQ973A
The DAQ970A / DAQ973A’s powerful measurement capabilities, adaptability, connectivity possibilities, cost factor, and ease-of-use put it ahead of other data acquisition systems, even ones costing three to five times as much.
Benefits of Keysight next generation Data Acquisition System:
- A simple user interface with low per-channel cost
- Modular flexibility and standard connectivity
- Enhances the efficiency and dependability of processes or machines
- Improved temperature accuracy and measurement rates
- Superior measurement performance
- Adaptability, and connectivity options
- High-quality switching and measurements in compact, cost-effective systems provide the highest value
- Can be used with industry standards and modular LXI and VXI solutions
Both of these data acquisition systems are available from Distrelec webshop.
The difference between 34970A/34972A and DAQ970A/DAQ973A
The 34970A and 34972A are legacy data acquisition and switching systems. Both designs offer ease of use, low cost per channel, modular flexibility, standard connectivity, and remarkable measurement performance. They also provide the best value for money in terms of measuring performance. However, they are not manufactured anymore. The newer and improved replacement are built on the proven design of the previous version and are a superset of the former series capability. With a few exceptions, the DAQ970A/DAQ973A specs are as accurate or better (see below).

The DAQ970A/DAQ973A is the next-generation 34970A/34972A data collection system. The older version can be simply replaced by the DAQ970A/DAQ973A. The new data acquisition system provides convenience of use with its interface and the ease of automating your tests without code, allowing you to focus on your primary task – developing your products.
How to make temperature measurements with DAQ?
Now, when you have the right measurement tools, it is time to find out how to use it. The main purpose of the data acquisition system is measuring temperature and some electrical parameters. If you start using such systems, this Keysight video helps you run measurements on your devices. If you already know how to do it, you can at least see how the mentioned above DAQ970A proves itself in action. You can use Keysight DAQ systems for electrical, physical, mechanical, acoustic, and signal routing applications up to 50GHz.
